My name is Nick. My friends call me Fluffy.
I live in sunny Orlando, Florida.
I play drums and attempt many other instruments.
I love music. I make music. I share music.
Music is here.
Ever since I was young I have been obsessed with music. To me it’s like a puzzle. It’s like a Rubik’s cube. If I were sitting here talking to you and there was music in the background, I would kind of pretend to listen to you, but I would be focused on, ‘I bet that’s an 18 inch kick drum and that’s kind of an interesting drum move that they have going.’ It’s a part of my mind that borders on having an obsessive compulsive disorder. Music, at some point in my life, became like my religion. I looked at it as something that was more than just a vinyl disk or more than a poster on a wall. It was something that opened me up and made me believe in other things.
When I saw them play this live, it blew me away. I love the delicate percussion and violin in the first section, the long and powerful buildup, and of course, the solo/jam section at the end! Dave’s really screamin’ hear, but he makes up for missing some notes by giving that vocal intensity.
cuz today was my first day of classes. Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace is such a beautiful album. After the first listen it gets better and better.
It was 4 am. I had played one hell of a show with my band, and was on a spare mattress after consuming too much incorrectly made but ultimately, effective hunch punch, when I revisited this glorious song last night. (along with most of TCV’s album). I love how this group has so many Zepplin-esque sounds, keeps the eeriness of QOTSA and can still have some hooks that are not too unlike Nirvana or Foo Fighters.
“Reptiles” is definitely a more eerie track, but that Zeppelin groove remains underneath, with JPJ bringing some nice blues bass lines. The slide guitar gives it a kind of western feel, which brings another texture to the song.
